
There are advantages and disadvantages of social stratification in ancient Egypt. Social stratification refers to the hierarchical arrangement of individuals into dimensions of power and wealth w/in a society. The advantage of the social stratification is that there is organization and order in the people. For Max Weber, social class pertaining broadly to material wealth is distinguished from status class based on honor, prestige, religious affiliation and so on. Ancient Egypt's kingdom is powerful and stable because of the order brought by the social stratification. The Pharaoh had great power because of the relations established w/ people w/ high social class. With social stratification, there is class, status and power. class- is a person's economic position in the society.
